POTFM Mission

The purpose of the Portraits of the Fallen Memorial is to commemorate the sacrifice of those American military service member’s, from California, who have died while serving our country during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

To Honor our California Fallen Heroes from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars by establishing a memorial that identifies each soldier with an artist rendering of their image.

To Value all life.
To Honor and preserve the memory of our fallen soldiers.
To Identify and share the lessons of war, peace and country.
To Set apart a sacred place where people heal, hope and remember.

To Provide a creative means for remembrance and healing.
To Illustrate in an effective way the implications of service to our country.
To Educate the public about our country’s value of service and peace and freedom.
To Establish a traveling exhibit of our Fallen Heroes, so that all communities across the USA have the opportunity to participate in the painting of the portraits.
To Erect a permanent memorial of all portraits transferred to tile, with a reflection area.
