Much has been happening with our Portraits of the Fallen Memorial project, and we are excited to share it with you.

We had our first Advisory ad-hoc committee which included members of four Gold Star families, several participating artists and members of the community, who came to help us see our mission to build a memorial of our American heroes. We also announced the development of the first digital interactive war memorial, a project managed by Anne Balsamo from the USC Annenberg School of Communication. This is a very exciting project and will allow all Americans to have the opportunity to visit a memorial site in a central location instead of the traditional national war memorial which is usually located in one place.

We now have a stellar Exhibition and Curatorial committee whose task it is to ensure the artworks are of the highest standard. They will also be working to find the perfect location for our first exhibition of the portraits that will be held this Fall. We are so fortunate to have the most talented and generous artists involved, for without them there would be no memorial project.

Thanks to Linda and Mario Ferrara, Gold Star mother and father, we have garnered a good response from other Gold Star families and hope to foster a strong relationship with these amazing people who have sacrificed so much.

Finally, a big thank you to Kerri-Lyn Swanson (and the staff) for the wonderful article ( view on this page) in Health, Beauty, Life Magazine. There is an online video interview ( see at right on this page) which will provide a more detailed experience about the project.

Stay tuned for information about our first fundraising event this summer.

Thank you for visiting Portraits of the Fallen Memorial.
